Genuine ex Vauxhall Vectra Challenge Car which supported BTCC from 1997 – 1999. Designed and built by Motor Sports Developments (MSD) to full FIA safety specifications and run by Triple Eight Race Engineering. Car originally driven by American Matt Turner in the Corus backed team.

Vauxhall factory backed, professionally built, one make race series car which cost around £85k when new. Around 35 cars originally built, approx. 15 survive with about 7 currently racing in CNC Heads Northern Saloon Championship in GB.

Rejuvenated in 2006 by Trackskills for the Northern Ireland Saloon Car Class and raced through to present in 2011 season without any major issues. Running 1:06.8 at Kirkistown (1:04.6 at Mondello National and 1:03.4 at Knockhill (2.5 engine) as a first timer to both circuits), and with a driver carrying permanent 50+kg “success ballast”!

A very driveable car with excellent characteristics, can be a giant killer - especially in the wet!

Many parts obtained from standard Vauxhall sources, so comparatively straightforward to keep running. Eligible for many open Saloon Car based series / championship

3.2 litre V6 Omega Y32SE engine conversion in 2010 (estimated at 245bhp)
Resulted in 2+ seconds per lap faster at Kirkistown than with the original Blue Printed 2.5 V6, 218 bhp / 192 lb/ft torque engine, prepared by Vauxhall specialists Swindon Racing Engines (retained as spare / development engine)
